About

P220509_16.33I’m presently on a journey to become a published writer. At the moment I’m writing a novel and also maintaining four blogs, including this one. I feel that this journey is something that I’ve committed to, finally: a lifelong career in writing. Only time will tell if there is any interest in my first novel, my poems or even my non fiction writing. I have so many interests, some of them contradictory, and, I bet, seen as a bit geeky (like Science Fiction and Fantasy…erm, Star Trek??) – but I like finding common ground with people and have an opinion on almost everything. I’m not afraid to concede when I don’t know about something; I will happily listen to someone else or read up about it.

For me, life is about finding the joy in things; the joy in reading, writing, photography, conversations with people, sitting in cafes with coffee, people watching, trying to make a difference to people. For as long as I can remember, I have always been an avid reader – consuming books with the ferocity of someone who fears they will never be able to read again! A lot of this is my parents’ influence – reading Winnie the Pooh to me when a child, buying me books they think I’d like. It is also because, being deaf, I get my information and ideas from reading – reading subtitles, reading lips, reading print and text.

I will be using this blog to post ideas, thoughts about writing – mine or others, the progress of my novel, the background to the novel. In short, it will hopefully become a space where writing is the focus and I can begin to think about writing as part of my daily routine. A space where I don’t get distracted!
